MARKETING TRAINING COURSE

First let me say welcome to my website - where I let my passion for marketing show, and look at marketing from an unusual angle. The hard knocks of running and starting all kinds of business from retial to service to tech.

As a first part to this marketing training course, I go in search of a simple formula for marketing.

Do you think there really is such a thing? - Let us have a look!

The late great gary halbert  - a flawed human being but probably one of the best direct marketers the world has ever known…said the only advantage he would want to beat anyone else in business, was to have the advantage of a hungry crowd.

So the first simple formula is:

(a)   First find a hungry crowd

(b)   Discover what it wants

(c)    Create or source what  the hungry crowd wants

(d)   Give it to them with an offer they cannot refuse!

Sounds too simple ? Maybe it is! – It is also the exact model that many internet marketers have used to make a massive fortune, and they have turned the process into a science – incluing a precise design of website to ask the customers what they want!

A question that is often asked.

Is a unique product needed or a unique service? - Well this makes me wonder!

Have you ever seen “Dragons Den” or some of those  programmes where entrepreneurs pitch for funding for their businesses

No matter if you have not..

 The dragons themselves give the punters a very hard time. If they cannot prove a USP then the dragons discount them out of hand.

Yet  have you ever looked the other side of that table? The dragons themselves have made  hundreds of millions, and in every case they are in mature businesses – from retail stationery to mobile phones, hotels, gymns and recruitement agents.

 Not a single unique idea between them .

In fact they followed this formula to a fortune

(a)    Find people who are making a lot of money, but also making mistakes

(b)   Refine the model, do it better, remove the mistakes, and bingo!  a successful business

You see….if there is already a business sector making money ..many things are already proven. There is a hungry crowd, and given the right encouragement , the hungry crowd does buy!

So let me now look at one more simple model… of what to do with a hungrty crowd.

First you could try to pitch straight away – and for suere a percentage may buy.

Some great marketer of hisroy said it can take up  to seven times of asking to close a sale. So if you dont know who the prospect  is you can never get them to buy!

Although I have never managed to trace who said it! - If anyone can tell me I would like to know!

So her then is a model of what to do with the hingry crowd. and a model for marketing that will form the  essential  method of this marketing training course

(a)    First turn strangers into prospects by offering someting for free

(b)   Then turn prospects into friends by helping and informing them

(c)    Only then pitch to turn friends into customers.

Seth godin promoted this idea in his seminal work Permission marketing  one of the finest and forward thinking books on how marerketing was destined to change over the last decade  And he predicted the future of internet marketing almost exactly!

The final piece of that puzzle is to turn your customers into sales people!
And refer – a friend, affiliate marketing, and viral marketing are all

So do simple models of marketing exist? Those models are certainly useful!
